Initiative to receive information and maintain records of tax paid through banks through online upload of challan details is also possible by Electronic Accounting System in Excise and Service Tax. A recent addition to the online services is Automation of Central Excise & Services Tax. This new service is a new centralised webbased software application which provides us an online electronic interface with the department.It aims to reduce paperwork, visits to the department and transaction costs while increasing accountability, responsiveness, efficiency and transparency in indirect tax administration. The online facilities offered are many and include services such as registrations, filing of service tax returns, refund claims, filing of intimations, tracking, dispute resolutions and online viewing of our records. The Institute highly appreciates this service as it will make our work more efficient and linear.

For administering customs and excise in India, now the tax payers can pay their tax and custom duty online by accessing the internet facility of the banks. E-payment facility for service tax payment are being only for those who are paying Rs. 50 lakhs or more duty or tax in the preceding financial year. With E-payment facility tax-payer can pay their tax from anywhere anytime. E-payment of Central Excise and Service Tax is a conventional payment methods offered to the customer from the banks. First time tax payers have to register with the authorized 24 banks offering e-payment facility.
